    Mariposa has many miles of trails throughout our neighborhood and in the adjacent preserve.

    The hiking group typically meets the first Friday of each month to explore the numerous trails in our beautiful open space.

  • Fat Bike Group

    The Fat Bike Group meets at 9 AM every Saturday at the community center.

  • Off Road/Jeep meetup

    The off road/Jeep group meets at 9:30 AM on Saturday at the community center.

  • Men's Bible Study

    This group meets from 5-6 PM every Tuesday at the community center.

    Welcome to the Artists of Mariposa! Our membership consists of artists that reside in the Mariposa Community only. We welcome all mediums and skill levels. AoM was formed in December 2017 to bring together, showcase, and share the amazing talent that is in our community.

Ongoing Community Activities

Pickleball - Wednesdays at 10 AM at the MAC. Join your neighbors every Wednesday for pickleball at the MAC from 10-11 AM. There are four courts reserved; the cost is $5 per player. Mariposa Hiking Group - Meets the second Friday or Saturday depending upon weather and location Enjoy many of the wonderful trails we have available to us here in Mariposa and learn about others to explore. Occasionally the Friday excursions are to other beautiful destinations that are local to Mariposa. The time is also weather dependent - watch this site for details or join the Mariposa Hiking Group on NextDoor.

Mountain Bike Meetup - Saturdays at 9:30 AM at the Community Center.

Off-Road Jeep Meetup - Saturdays at 9:30 AM at the Community Center.

All meetings take place on Sundays at 4PM.

Kids and Pets Events

Happy Howl-o-Ween - A gathering of residents’ pets dressed in costumes

Halloween for Kids - Trunk or Treat where residents decorate their vehicles and pass out candy to neighborhood children.

Santa Meets Mariposa - One weekend in December, Santa arrives at the Community Center where children can give him their wish list.

Easter Egg Hunt - Children are invited to the park to hunt for Easter eggs and prizes.

Doggie Easter Parade - Residents are invited to dress their dogs (and themselves) to compete for prizes.

First Friday

Held from 5-8 PM in the park on the first Friday of the month. Bring a dish to share, a beverage and a chair and get to know your neighbors. We move into the Community Center when the weather turns cold.

Social Events and Exercise

Wine Tasting - Join your neighbors to taste wines brought to Mariposa or visit local wineries for tasting.

Book Clubs - There are several book clubs meeting both day and evening. Information can be found on the bulletin board in the Community Center.

Exercise Classes - Various fee-based classes are held in the Community Center. Information can be found on the bulletin board.

Community Events

Keep Mariposa Beautiful - In conjunction with Keep America Beautiful, neighborhood volunteers meet in April and October to pick up trash surrounding Mariposa. This is part of Rio Rancho’s “Adopt a Spot” program. The city provides trash bags and trash pickup after the event. Contact Anne Apicella, 505-681-9261 to volunteer.

Contribution - Various collections are held throughout the year, usually in the Community Center. Examples are food for the hungry, back to school supplies and other priority needs

Harvest Festival - Every August, Mariposa invites New Mexican craftspeople and artists to our community park to sell their wares to Mariposa residents and guests.

Sunday Speaker Series - A monthly presentation is held one Sunday each month. Subjects such as Flora and Fauna in Mariposa, History of State Parks, Birds in Mariposa, CPR, Safety in our Neighborhoods and others have been presented.

The Mariposa Park is maintained by the City of Rio Rancho. Any health or safety issues should be directed to Report Rio Rancho.

The Community Center is controlled by the MCA/HOA, NOT the Mariposa Neighborhood Association (MNA). Any questions or issues related to these facilities should be directed to the MCA at 505-219-2986..
